Well I have officially stopped working on the freewave and I'm not sure of the health of blogs after megaupload died and google stopped giving good search results for any blogs. I had been busy for a year and a half making my own music and have stayed in the brony community as a musician. I have a new blog there that does what thefreewave did for music sites for individual brony artists. Again if you haven't checked out MLP or the music you likely won't want this (trust me it's pretty cool actually) but I'm glad if you take a look at an awesome current scene that's only just over a year old and is full of hundred's of great DIY musicians.

Thanks for the memories freewave readers. We didn't burn out but kinda faded away.

I won't delete this blog as some sites may still be alive and people may still be able to find great music available on the internet through here (although most posts will show dead blogs). It was great for so long and I thank everyone who used the site regularly. If anyone wants to take over as an author and continue let me know otherwise this is likely it.

Well I'm gonna keep this blog AS IS (some working links, many dead to other music download blogs) rather than delete the whole archive. I'm gonna include a few of my own music links that I've been working on to promote my new album. While it will likely appeal to only brony music fans (and those who like dance music) I'm rather proud of what I put together. It's a free album on my bandcamp and the first of 3 planned. More info on my tumblr. Credit to rawrcharlierawr for the new look and my oc artwork.




















Everything is and will still remain here. I might even clean this place up someday so excuse the mess.

Matthew N. & Freewave - Twilight Meets Dr. Whooves

This is another collab between Matthew N and I and this time it's a track about Dr. Whooves (or Discord Whooves if you prefer) and his encounter with Twilight which happened on theaskdiscordwhooves.tumblr. His art and storyline was the inspiration for this electro house track (along with using an appropriate Styx sample we began with) and he was gracious to allow use of art from it for the pmv (and also had some footage from the other 2 source inspirations). I hope you like our track as we spent quite a bit of time on it and as always Matthew did an amazing job on a huge chunk of the music and was a joy to work with.

I added lyrics to the amazing original instrumental and made it about the pressure's of making music in the brony community (which can be very frustrating at times unless you're tough and look for the help of others) and also a left for dead 2-mlp crossover (see the pmv video) which i play loads with a few brony friends of mine. Celestia send the mane 6 to help rescue the earth after the zombie apocalypse and it's a struggle to make it. Anyway this is a track about being tough in the face of adversity and about the importance of relying on others for strength.

This is a ponified cover of a New Order song. One of my favorite alternative dance bands and a track that instantly came to mind when i saw the Crystal Empire 2 parter (and one that didn't need a lot of lyric changing tbh). This has been delayed a bit until i got a vocalist and Evdog came through this last week and put some wonderful vocals on this track. Glad we finally got to work on something new together and there's more collabs to come between us. I did the rest of the music in a style of breakbeats but with a mix of shoegaze and electro. This track speaks to me in terms of how fragile we are as people (especially after the Connecticut tragedy) and also from pov of the crystal ponies who were both enslaved and forgotten (again, actually heavy stuff). Luckily i think love conquers all, even outside of Equestria.

I was one of the 3 people who was involved in forming Sori 52 - a SoGreatandPowerful Tribute Album, one of our most important and unique artists in the brony community. This was a surprise gift which means we had to get as many people involved who would want to contribute and yet keep it a secret. While I wish I could have done much more with the remix if i had a midi or stems I was able to give the original a remix which turned into into a deep house track. Mine may be one of the weaker tracks creatively but I think the album is an amazing testament to SGAP's creativity and how that sparks other's imaginations and music.

This was a fun team up with Sax Brony (epic saxophone and a pleasure to work with) Dongle Kumquat (soulful male vocals) and myself (everything else + the pmv). Thought it would be fun to do a playful pun and a Jazz-Funk cover off of C&C Music Factory's - Sweat (Everybody Dance Now). There's not enough pony funk yet (or many retro song nods) so hopefully see this is as fun and a bit of something different for people.

Aviators Tonight VIP "Live" Remix / U+I Album Release

This album is the first of 3 albums planned to collect the brony music I've worked on for a little over a year. This album focuses on remixes of some amazing talent (hence the U+I title), some of the more positive themes, and variety of styles and genres of dance music I've made. I hope you enjoy this free album with some of the newer versions of older tracks as a retrospective of the joy, themes, and inspiration i've tried to channel from the show.

The song was an attempy to fix my remix of an Aviators track from long ago, giving it a "live" sounding track, and as a way to kick off the album. TBH it got a pretty muted reception so I'm still not quite sure on how to feel about all the time spent trying to clean it up. Ah well i tried.

Whether you see this song as Twi's reaction to causing her friend's harm, the reaction of her friend's to her impeding departure, or the fanbase's reaction to all things Twicorn here's my remix of a great melancholy song from the finale. I spent a bit of time the last 2 days trying to make a dream house cover and pmv for it so hope you enjoy it as I haven't put together a track "quickly" in a long time (altogether about 10 hrs). Luckily EQD spotlighted and I tacked on as a bonus track track to my U+I album as I was a little saddened that i didn't have a new track or much of a draw to get people to download it. It's success was a big mental and creative boost.

I did a hip-hop track with some rap myself? Tis true!! While many questions have been asked by the brony community about Twilicorn, the Professor Pony gets to the bottom of them all in one of his fabulous rap lectures. All the music samples were hunted down from the original records and not from sample packs (like back in the day). I know this is left field from me but as always i like to try a bity of everything and i think this turned out well and showed off my love for sampling.

Freewave + Dreamsong - Celestia's Ballad (Transformation Remix)

This was an wonderful collab and it was so much fun to work with Dreamsong on this. She did a fantastic job on all the vocals and spoken parts (and wrote them too). This is the third of my Twilogy (doh) about our new alicorn princess and another show remix from the finale. So if I've Got to Find a Way was the fandom's reaction with sadness, The Professor was try to get our head to accept why this happened, and then this track is ultimately about happiness and acceptance with that decision (she deserved that promotion!!). Anyway that's the thought. This is the first part of MANY songs that Dreamsong and i are collaborating on with each other! In fact it's expanded to a fourth eventual album done between the both of us.

Freewave + Dreamsong - King Sombra (Goldfinger Cover)

I thought Sombra needed a dramatic theme song and this ponfied version of James Bond's Goldfinger came from that. Hoping that we might see a Twilight / Sombra rematch in season 4 as they only hinted at how scary a villain he could be. Although despite what's in this pmv i think Twi would ultimately defeat him. This also is a bit of a James Bond tribute (50 years woohoo) as we both love Shirley Bassey, John Barry, and the music catalog of that series. So enjoy this crossover. Hopefully this mix of orchestral, hip-hop, and rock satisfies everyone. Dreamsong was AMAZING on this track and did fantastic vocals and wonderful flute work and we're working on a joint album of ponified covers together (collabs and solo). It's just been a blast working with someone around my age, who's so talented, and easy to get along with.

Freewave Befriends Eurobeat Brony - Disco(rd) / Chaos Squared Album Release

I know this might be the 100th+ remix of Discord but hopefully this a breath of fresh air as there also is little to no disco music in the community and I think this a really faithful disco remix of this track. Just like Celestia argued that there is use for Disco(rd)'s magic I too am arguing for it's valiant return and for ponies getting in touch with their funky side.




Chaos Squared

While my first album collected all the optimistic tracks based on MLP themes this second one is based on the darker side. Each is centered around an MLP villain or a discorded pony and the genres too go a little darker in theme. This isn't a grimdark album but it's not cute and cuddly either. Several tracks have been remixed and remastered from the originals. I hope you check it out.

Freewave & Dreamsong - Young Folks

This is an electropop cover of Peter, Bjorn & John's "Young Folks". I thought this would be a great track for Big Mac and Cheerilee post Hearts & Hooves Day ep. Now that the CMC (err the "Young Folks") are outta the picture the two can take it a bit slower and get to know if it is a match. This works as a duet between the 2 characters and is really about unfolding a relationship. Fluttermac fans this may be post-breakup, who knows, it's just fannon. I also really wanted to do this song as Dreamsong and I are both older then most in the community (the other young folks), have been doing our own thing as well, and are spending lots of time not worrying about pony politics and just having fun making music. Thanks to her for the amazing vocals and for being such a wonderful friend. She did an amazing job on this and we're continuing to work together for out eventual album coming out in the near future. I will admit there are a few issues that we're gonna clear up for the album release as mixing this didn't turn out quite as good as i'd hoped in retrospect.

Electro Swing + Granny Smith = a natural fit!! Granny still has a bit of pep in her step so i thought having an official theme song for her is well overdue. Hope you like a blast from the past that combines swing with a modern funky house groove. This is also a 1,000 sub thanks to all the people who follow me. Feels so nice to actually make this landmark after hoping to eventually make it there.

Ok this track is a Lightning Dust track made to submit for for Rainbow & Rooted. This is kind a musical synopsis of the Wonderbolt Academy episode and taking an audio ride on the Dizzitron. However I'm going in with identifying with Lightning Dust's character a bit. Can recklessness be an admirable trait when it comes to music? If Rainbow Dash is playing by the rules to get into the Wonderbolts (ie Rainbow & Rooted) then I'm going the reckless route; taking some chances, taking a few u turns, and mixing some genres together. Will i make the team (err album) and be a wonderbolt too or be shown the door?

Edit: Actually no. Didn't make it on the comp, lol, oh well.... Either way i had a fun time making this track

Well here's a change of pace, old school heavy metal!!! I read a few fanfics recently and fell in love with a fanfic about Lyra discovering that Bon Bon is actually a changeling and wanted to make an appropriate song about it. Despite the change in "race" its still very much a love song and intense one between the pair. I am so glad And The Rainfall (Don)introduced me to SylverLining as she was awesome on this track and has a hell of a voice.
